ILKELIANI CAMP

Ilkeliani is an eco-friendly permanent tented camp, centrally located in the Masai Mara Reserve. The Camp environs have been preserved, to retain as natural an environment as possible (no manicured lawns here). There are no paved pathways, instead raised earth provides grassy pathways. The bar, lounge and dining tents are lit by the parafin lamps - this is a traditional safari experience. The safari vehicles are positioned on the southern side of the Talek River, reached by a footbridge.

THE TENTS

The camp has 17 tents, each positioned on the edge of the Talek River looking out onto the plains of the Masai Mara, accessible via a private footbridge where you join your safari vehicle. Hot water showers in your ensuite bathroom are fuelled by the burning of chardust or briquettes made from coffee husks, which burn twice as long as normal charcoal. Lighting in guest tents is provided by solar power.
